Passing the Cutting Torch

For over three-quarters of a century, a member of the Simpson family has had a cutting torch in his hand. In the mid-30's, "Grandpa" Tom Simpson started his welding career in the oilfield and on pipe line jobs. Later, he had his own shop in the Rio Grande Valley.

In 1970, "Dad" ~ Duane, Sr. ~ followed Tom's footsteps. He started Simpson machine Shop, initially doing work for General Electric and Westinghouse.

Duane Jr., started working in the shop when he was 13. Working alongside his Dad and Grandpa, he knew he was destined to continue the family tradition.
